Clean Green Smoothie Bowl
I’ve been enjoying the unseasonably warm weather in Cali as of late. 80 degrees in February? I’ll take it! And those Dana Point beach strolls and Laguna Beach hikes….yep, I’ll take those too. Did you see them on Snapchat? (username: Downshiftology). Oh yes, I’m quite the pro on Snapchat now (*joking*). But after two weeks on this new social platform, it’s almost like I know what I’m doing (I think?!) – and I’m definitely having fun showing you guys the behind-the-scenes of my life.
One of the things I realized this week is that my trip to Portugal is only two months away – yikes – so prioritizing a little exercise via hiking and the gym has jumped to the front of the priority list. Along with eating a little cleaner than I normally do. In short, I need to get my body ready to explore, adventure and hike the Portuguese countryside (read: more likely the vineyards in Porto!)
This is my first trip to Portugal, so if you have recommendations on things to do, see, eat…let me know! I’ll be working on my itinerary in the next couple of weeks and figuring out exactly where I’ll be staying (Porto, Lisbon….?) and how slow my slow, roaming free travels will be. I’m thinking a month? What do you think?
Alright, you know I love smoothie bowls – I have 3 recipes already on the blog, for this one, this one and this one. I also have my classic green smoothie recipe and my post-workout green smoothie recipe – but sometimes I like to feel like I’m eating breakfast rather than drinking it – so this green smoothie bowl recipe is a great combination of both.
My goal with this recipe was to keep things simple and use ingredients that you most likely already have on hand. I love superfoods like spirulina, bee pollen and hemp hearts…but this green smoothie bowl is your simple, everyday, clean green smoothie bowl. The base is just spinach, coconut water, bananas and avocado….and then an assortment of toppings. I opted for kiwi fruit, blueberries, coconut and sunflower seeds, but any fruit, seeds and nuts you have in your fridge can be used.
I love green smoothies, but let’s be honest, smoothie bowls are just so darn pretty.
Enjoy!
